Estonia Joins the Race for Electric Car Production

Earlier this year Estonia invested in 500 hundred electric cars and charging equipment, simultaneously some of Estonia’s main petrol station chains committed to installing charging points. Those charging points are now being put to the test as the ‘Tallinn – Monte Carlo Electric Race 2011’ started today in Tallinn, Estonia. The cars will be travelling through Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and Italy before concluding in Monaco on 11th June 2011.

To coincide with the start of the race a seminar on ‘The Challenges of Electro mobility in the Nordic Countries’ was held yesterday in Tallinn. The focus of the seminar was to attract interest from foreign investors in Estonia’s developments in the region of electric vehicle manufacture. Attending the conference was Cathy Rogers, Vice president of IBM, Jarmo Tuisk, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications and Christer Asplund, a mentor with extensive experience in the business of electric vehicles.
