Estonia’s Minister of Education calls for Universities to Strengthen ties with Society
Estonia’s Minister of education, Tonis Lucas, during his speech at a seminar on managing universities stated that Estonian universities suffer from individual isolation, that they should be more involved with society and that they squander resources replicating each other’s work.
Minister Lucas said that other European countries, such as close neighbours Finland and Lithuania, have recently updated their management models to strengthened ties between universities and society.
“The Ministry of Economic And Science has for a long time already been planning to include international experts into the discussions and comparisons to other countries will certainly contribute substance to developing Estonian universities as well,” said Lukas.
